Marcus Clean Room, The University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst)
Client: The University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst)
Scope of Work: HVAC, Plumbing
Partner(s): Kurtz Inc.
The Dobbert Companies maintains a long history of successful projects with UMass Amherst, although this was a special project as a result of particular needs related to the use of the space as a “cleanroom.”
A cleanroom is a controlled work area that maintains a specified level of air particulates and other contaminants. Cleanrooms are common in many industries, such as pharmaceuticals, medical device manufacturing, scientific research, chemical processing, and electronics manufacturing. The design and specification of a cleanroom requires close coordination between the design team and all the departments or parties that will use the room.
This project features specialized gas piping, HVAC, high-quality air and water filtration, and traditional plumbing work for the Marcus Clean Room, a nanotechnology lab.
